I find the light much easier to read and work with. Cooler means it goes places that an incandescent light could not. There are so many variations of lighting instruments with light more directional that you can put light virtually any where you want. Retrofit bulb replacements for old style sockets are useful but the old fixtures are designed to keep hot lamps from setting things on fire. You know what I mean if you have decorated heavily in the past. Some houses look like they must have incredible utility bills in December. The clear strings are good for yard lighting all year. My kids insist on having nightlights in their rooms for when they sleep and they just LOVE the changing colors...I think they are very cool also!! At night they give a very soothing feeling in the walkways of our home. It's so great they they use so much less power than regular lights. When congress passes stupid legislation you can bet that someone is getting rich. I am sold on LEDs. It is amazing that you can only get them on line. I have had good service from DepotEco. It is easy to see why concrete stores are having trouble competing. I get more personal service and information by email from DepotEco than I can get in a warehouse store.
